Our offer was accepted and closing date was scheduled for Friday, June 13th!
To bring you up-to-date a bit . . . Earlier in the year we had looked into Modular Homes and individual builders. We contacted a builder, we learned of from our Realtor, in regards to building a cabin for us. Several phone conversations with the builder’s wife we felt we were ready to meet with them and view some of the cabins they had already built. On Thursday the 12th we met with them in Dryden and viewed two cabins they had built. Made arrangements for them to come to our land on the 14th to discuss location and possibilities of having a cabin built for us.
Friday morning the closing went off without a hitch. Friday evening we cooked hamburgers and took a picnic lunch to our land for dinner. We had a visitor who was most interested in our meal. After my elk encounter in Yellowstone, I wasn’t too happy to have it that close to me. We shooed it off. Although it didn’t go that far, just a few yards away, laid down in the brush and watched us.
Later one of the neighbors, his wife and little dog came by just checking on what we were doing on the land. He was looking out for things, since it is such a remote area and not many people make it up there. They were very friendly, welcomed us as new neighbors and let us know if we needed anything at all they were there for us. He told us they feed the deer by hand which explains why our earlier visitor was not afraid to come so close to us.
Saturday was our meeting with the builder and his wife. After much discussion, it was determined that the cabin would be built behind these two small pine trees.
Building would begin the first week of July.
