July 4th morning was mostly relaxing in the cabin. We did make a trip into town for some Blue Bell Ice Cream Cones. Got there just as a downpour ended. An old fashioned bank robbery and gun fight scheduled at noon and 2 pm each July 4th. Seems the rain kept the bank robbers from attempting to rob the bank at 2 pm.
By the time we headed out of town the vendors around the square were once again open for business with tent doors open. The ice cream was as good as I had anticipated.
Max worked on the kitchen cabinet drawers. There were several issues with them, but Max took care of it. Now they are better than new.
The rest of the afternoon and early evening I picked up and started getting things packed up for our return to Plano. Max participated in the 13 Colonies Ham Radio Event.
Sunday morning we woke to the sound of rain. Since we were leaving the windows open most nights, there was also a cool breeze. We decided to just stay in bed for a while longer and enjoy it.
Shortly after getting up and dressed, a strong storm arrived. Lightening struck very close and the lights flickered. It must have taken out the internet tower, because we no longer had internet service the rest of our time at the cabin.
We loaded everything up in the rain. Thankfully it was mostly a gentle rain by that time.
Made it home in less time than it took us to get down there. And didn’t run into any bad weather. We will be back in August for another week.
