Thursday morning we began working on the fence as soon as we finished our coffee. We were at the half way point when we finished for a breakfast break. Perfect time for Connie, Calvin and Charlie to arrive. We had a quick breakfast and began on the fence again.
It was really nice having Calvin’s extra set of hands. We took on water break and still we were able to finish putting the fence up by lunch time!
Mom was in charge of making sure the rocking chair stayed in the rocking motion.
;-) She watched the dogs and shouted words of encouragement.
Max and I are happy. Duke and Ginger are happy. It was so good to see them run around like crazy with all that space and no leads!!!! Filled my heart with joy. Life is better than good!!!
We had lunch and spent the day visiting and relaxing with Connie and Calvin. Max and Calvin did put the gate up that afternoon. Connie brought an apple pie that we baked and had as an afternoon snack.
It began sprinkling at one point in the afternoon. Max and Duke were out in the yard. Duke came running onto the porch. Looked back and saw Max still working in the yard, so he ran back to get him. *lol* Such a sweet doggie.
Dinner was pizza with our favorite cornmeal crust. The folks left soon after dinner. Spent the evening washing dishes, cleaning up a bit and reading. Max was on his ham radio and later set up the telescope. He had me come out and look at the moon. He had found a crater whose rim was filled with craters. Pretty cool looking.
The dogs were worn out from all the running around. Worn out but happy.
Every night but one we have slept with the windows open and it has been wonderful.
This morning was a beautiful morning. Ginger was so tired she didn’t get up until she heard me stirring around. Duke stayed in his crate for awhile before he decided to join us in the kitchen. He looked very sleepy, but didn’t want to take the chance of missing out on anything.
Got pork tenderloin in the oven. Had some sweet potatoes, for Connie and Max, white potatoes for me and Calvin that I put in the oven to bake.
Did some laundry. Connie, Calvin and Charlie arrived shortly before 10 am. We had a good time visiting with them before lunch. After lunch we all drove to see the new cabin our builder had built last month in the resort. It really looked nice.
Said our good byes to the O’Neils and headed back to the cabin.
Max had to make a trip into town to purchase a plunger. I can’t believe I hadn’t thought of needing one and already having it here. Oh well, guess one doesn’t really want to think about needing one. While he was there he picked up some items to secure the lattice work to the ground, and a c-clap and wood glue to fix our desk that needs a minor repair.
I’ve spent the afternoon cleaning up the kitchen from lunch, doing laundry *rugs and sheets, not in the same load*, working on my sister’s website and of course catching up on the blog.
Max is out repairing one of his ham radio antennas. Seems a wild donkey had a run in with one of the ropes Max had tied off to a tree. Don’t know exactly how it could have happened, but the rope, part of the antenna and the tree branch were ripped out of place.
